Why did they change the age limit for AFCAT all of a sudden?

I am aspiring career in IAF. Or may be I should say I was. Given my age, 25, Air Force technical branch was my only hope. I attended AFCAT for the first time last August. I failed in ekt by seven marks, though I cleared AFCAT. This time I was more determined. I have been preparing for ekt for the past three months, getting back to the college stuffs again. I was eagerly waiting for AFCAT 1/2015. On 6 Dec ’14, Air force announced AFCAT 1/2015. I opened it, alas, what a heartbreak! IAF reduced the age limit for tech branch by two whole years. There was no prior notification. In fact, on the official site, it’s still written 28 years. How could they do this? I’m sure there are thousands of disappointed aspirants. IAF might reserve all rights to change the eligibility criteria at it’s will. But at least a prior notification? And with that, my ambition was stalled. Is there any chance ( I just can’t take it, still hoping for something) that IAF may consider changing the age limit?

If you are 25 years old then you can apply for AFCAT this time for the tech entry cuz you are supposed to be 26 years or lower before 2 jan 2016.
As far as changing of age criteria is concerned, its their policy buddy, we cant do anything. They might change it for the next afcat considering there are so many disappointed candidates. But dont lose heart, you still have one more chance.

Goodluck and i hope you get to wear the uniform.

    Hey Raj,

Even I am suffering through the same case as yours.
I would suggest you to drop a mail to afcatcell@gmail.com, tell the same so that if they hear from more candidates they may consider the request to keep the age limit as 28 only as earlier.
Please spread the word to others also.

More the no. of requests = more the chance of consideration of this case.

    Let’s hope for the best.

If possible, convince your friends also to send mail, no matter they are interested for AFCAT or not. More and more mails, more hopes.

This time also, the AF Examination Authority has done the same thing. No change in the age limit.
